A QUAIL COUPLE
Elizabeth Harris is a Canadian multidisciplinary artist based in Squamish, BC, whose work spans painting, ceramics, functional objects, and mixed media installations. Raised on a cattle ranch in the Peace River country near Fort St. John, her practice is shaped by themes of environmentalism, existential reflection, and a deep connection to nature. A graduate of Emily Carr University of Art and Design, she has also worked extensively as an educator, mentor, and facilitator within artist communities across British Columbia.
Her ceramic practice is especially recognized for her expressive raku bears, created using a traditional Japanese-inspired raku firing process that produces unpredictable metallic and earthy surfaces through flame, smoke, and rapid cooling. These sculptural bears embody a dialogue between natural force and artistic control, making Elizabeth Harris’s raku works an excellent choice for collectors seeking contemporary ceramics that combine raw elemental beauty with strong conceptual depth.
