Born May 10, 1965, in Cape Dorset, NU. Nationality: Inuit.
Palaya Qiatsuq began carving around 1977, learning from his father, the renowned sculptor and printmaker Lukta Qiatsuk. Working primarily in soapstone and bone, he is known for his detailed carvings exploring themes of transformation and shamanism. He hopes his work preserves Inuit traditions and shares the experiences of past generations with younger audiences.
