Papiara Tukiki
Papiara Tukiki is an Inuit artist from Cape Dorset (Kinngait), Nunavut, known for her elegant, simplified drawings of animals and people that reflect life on the land. Her work often draws on memories of traditional camping life and the animals essential to Inuit survival.
A regular contributor to the Cape Dorset Annual Print Collection since 2004, Tukiki is admired for her strong sense of design and expressive use of form. She received an Award of Excellence in 1977 for the “Things That Make Us Beautiful” design competition and held a solo exhibition of her drawings in Toronto in 2012.
Born on December 25, 1942, Tukiki lives in Cape Dorset.
