DINNER THEATRE - HOUSE SPARROW
“I spotted this sign behind a favourite local restaurant here on Salt Spring Island. From an artistic perspective, I love the weathered look of both the wood and the sign. The special effects created by the light add interest and depth to a primarily flat setting (I added the shadow from a hanging basket for further artist reasons). I also noted the light bulbs within the letters give the sign the look of a theatre marquee.
“Quite often while seated on the deck of a restaurant or cafe, I find myself watching the birds that scrounge for fallen scraps of food. I personally find it entertaining yet I know it is perhaps not the most ideal situation for any of us. It is however a reminder that we share this planet with many other species...which is also a bit of food for thought.” – Allan
