THE BIG LONELY
“In a world preoccupied with the bizarre, the sensational and horrific, I find great enjoyment in watching children at play. Their Joyous laughter, enthusiasm and naivete are a source of endless fascination – especially when the setting is a hauntingly beautiful prairie or foothills landscape.”
Canadian artist and author Bill Brownridge (1932–2024) was celebrated for his vibrant, impressionistic depictions of hockey, prairie life, and winter landscapes. A graduate of the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology and Art, he created iconic works including Olympic-themed serigraphs for Calgary’s 1988 Winter Games and the Calgary Flames uniforms, while also authoring and illustrating The Moccasin Goalie trilogy. His dynamic artwork is held in private and corporate collections, making it highly sought-after by collectors of Canadian art and sports-themed pieces. Brownridge’s legacy combines technical mastery, cultural storytelling, and a lifelong passion for the Canadian landscape and the sport of hockey.
