A GEOGRAPHY OF LIGHT by Cameron Bird
Cameron Bird Exhibition Opening
Artist in attendance on April 11th from 12:00 PM – 4:00 PM
Cameron Bird’s paintings are grounded in a lifetime of immersion in the wilderness of British Columbia and beyond. From early explorations along the coast and into the backcountry to his years working as a pack horse guide, his connection to the land is both lived and deeply observed. Working primarily in oil, Bird builds his landscapes through bold colour, confident brushwork, and heavy impasto, distilling each scene to its essential forms. Influenced by a lineage of Western painters yet guided by his own experiences, his work balances structure and spontaneity—where abstraction sharpens perception and memory anchors it in place. In Evening Light Over Lk. O’Hara, the shifting light and fractured planes of the mountain speak to a fleeting moment made permanent, inviting the viewer into a landscape that is both immediate and timeless.
