Preserving Canadian Heritage - Live demo by Jan Crawford
Canada House Gallery is pleased to welcome acclaimed Okanagan artist Jan Crawford for a special in-gallery painting demonstration from June 26th – 28th.
For more than three decades, Jan’s artistic practice has explored the essence of Canadian cultural identity through ceramics, printmaking, photography, and acrylic painting. Best known for her iconic depictions of fruit jars, orchard ladders, pails, and agricultural artifacts, her work moves beyond nostalgia to honour the stories, traditions, and heritage woven into the Canadian experience.
Deeply inspired by the landscapes and agricultural history of the Okanagan, Crawford transforms everyday objects into enduring symbols of memory, identity, and place. Her richly layered works celebrate a shared cultural history while inviting viewers to reflect on the meaning found in familiar forms.
We invite you to visit the gallery, meet the artist, and experience Crawford’s creative process firsthand as she brings her distinctive Canadian imagery to life.
