Roger D Arndt
Roger D. Arndt has been a full-time artist since the age of 14, selling his first oil painting as a teenager and quickly establishing himself as a self-sustaining artist. His evolving style features bold colors and luminous landscapes of Western Canada’s mountains, forests, lakes, and coastline. His work is collected worldwide, including in North America, Japan, and Europe.
Roger describes his style as Romantic or Idealistic Realism, characterized by flowing mist and atmospheric light. He employs a meticulous 15th-century Flemish technique, layering dozens of thin, transparent glazes to achieve depth and luminescence. His large-format works, some as big as 48” x 72”, can take up to eight months to complete.
Committed to craftsmanship, Roger personally prepares, paints, varnishes, and frames each piece in his studio. His attention to detail ensures that every painting is a timeless fusion of subject matter, technique, and fine artistry.
