Brigitte Hopkins
Silversmith | Jewellery Designer & Maker
Brigitte Hopkins born, raised, and resides in beautiful Banff, Alberta Canada
A silversmith and jewellery designer whose work embodies the meeting point between tradition and individuality.
Brigitte creates sculptural silver pieces using the ancient technique of wax casting, a process that allows her to shape each form by hand before transforming it into metal. Every piece begins as a wax model—carefully carved, textured, and refined—then cast in sterling silver to preserve the unique details of the maker’s hand.
Since 2023, Brigitte has been developing her own line of jewellery while working under the renowned goldsmith Rudi Peet.
Her practice is rooted in traditional metalsmithing, but her design approach is deeply intuitive and influenced by organic shapes, quiet gestures, and the emotional resonance of objects. Her formal training includes the Jewellery + Metals program at the Alberta College of Art and Design, as well as intensive studies at the Hui in Maui, Hawaii.
Brigitte’s connection to craft began early in life, creating beaded jewellery in her families store, The Banff Book and Art Den. That experience instilled a lifelong appreciation for handmade work and the stories that live within it. Today, her cast silver pieces carry that same sense of personal narrative—each one a small sculpture designed to be worn, lived with, and remembered.
