Rogers’ Pass is such an amazing mountain region in the Selkirks and I’ve been inspired to paint its colours and patterns. I look for abstract shapes that work together to say what I want but not give every detail. This study is looking at a high alpine scree slope with a snow pattern and small tress clinging to the rocky slope. I remember when I was guiding on horseback in high alpine country and how I loved seeing these scrub trees and steep meadows. I could just picture goat or sheep or eve a grizzly wandering through.
