As a glacial lake, Bow Lake is typically known for its turquoise colour, but I chose instead to emphasize the bold sweeping patterns created by melting snow on scree slopes. As clouds move over the landscape, the light moves with it and shapes the Crowfoot Mountain and glacier. The reflection in calm water multiplies the scene, broken only by a few remaining sheets of ice. The late spring melt is well underway. I find the structure or architectural qualities of mountains is amplified by the use of black and white.
