CATHEDRALS OF ICE
The painting is based on my journey to Antarctica. This particular location is Lemaire Channel which is a strait off Antarctica, between Kyiv Peninsula in the mainland's Graham Land and Booth Island.
I was fascinated by the subtle nuisances of colour the ice and snow contrasting with the dark vertical mountains. It was really fun and challenging painting working with limited pallet using under painting to illuminate light reflecting from the surface.
