Michael Cameron | Nocturnal
Canada House Gallery is featuring the works of local painter, Michael Cameron. Known for his large scale works, Michael shares the nocturnal experience in his external world. He says: “The experience of looking at nature, of being in nature is important for me, and it's that experience I want to bring back to my studio when I start a painting. With this notion of experience, you're always looking at the world. Painting makes me more aware of the place I live and hopefully the world that I live in.”
Michael captures the ambiance of his local geography and resident animals in the wee, dark hours. Eroded and built-up layers of oil paint and commercial spray paint, he renders scenes that evoke mysterious sightings of wildlife. Veiled light sources are vehicle and locomotive headlights, campfires and moon glow.
We invite you to explore Michael’s work in this showcase of paintings.
