ART / LIVE - live artist demonstrations

Join us and five of Canada's contemporary talents for a day of live artist demonstrations!

From 10am - 4pm the gallery will be buzzing with activity, from delicate brushstrokes to hammered steel discover the magic behind the methodology and what inspires our artists to create as they craft unique pieces here in the heart of Banff.

Keep your eyes peeled for new collections by the artists in attendance or purchase a piece for your home straight from the easel itself!

JENNIFER ANNESLEY – an esteemed water colourist from Edmonton, Jennifer’s travel history is as colourful as her incredible work.

SHEILA KERNAN – a Calgary based creative, Sheila’s work hardly needs introduction. Combining layers of mixed media, Sheila’s work is effervescent and illuminates any space it’s displayed in.

KERRY LANGLOIS – one of the movers and shakers of the Bow Valley, Kerry’s cool and crisp compositions have enthralled collectors.

ROBERT LEMAY – utilising a grid method, Robert hones in one small square of his subject at a time. From minute abstraction his work resolves together to create striking realism in its totality.

TERRY MCCUE – completely self-taught, the immediacy of indigenous artist Terry McCue’s work is impossible to ignore. To see his work is to feel it.

I've always had an innate desire to make things. My parents always encouraged us to be creative, and I spent most of my childhood doing art projects, building forts and making movies in the woods behind our house. I was lucky enough to grow up in one of the most beautiful places in the world: the Canadian Rocky Mountains. I was born in Banff and raised in the neighbouring town of Canmore, Alberta. My connection to this landscape has greatly influenced my work as an artist and I'm always trying to capture the haunting beauty of The Rockies.

In 2007 I moved to Montreal where I received my BFA from Concordia University, graduating with distinction in Painting and Drawing. After eight years I moved back to my hometown where I now live and work as an artist. I paint primarily in acrylic on birch panel and my current body of work is made up of minimalist landscapes and monochromatic paintings of things you find in the woods. I'm interested in the ways the mountains are constantly concealing and revealing themselves through mist, cloud and storm and I can't help but be drawn to the misty and the moody.
