While paddling among the islands of the Broughton Archipelago, fog would come and go creating mystery and toying with depth perception at every turn. Out of nowhere a headland would appear, a graceful tree leaning over the water. Paddle strokes were the only disturbance on the water, creating calligraphic lines in perpetual motion. The use of charcoal and watercolour allows for a mix of monochrome and colour, for me a truer conveyance of the landscapes of the West Coast.
