I remember this place from when I was much younger. Perhaps it seemed wilder then, less signs, stairs, and wooden railings. Fewer tourists, and a lot less cell phones. Or maybe I was a little more wild then too.
But has anything really changed here? Suddenly, an eagle sweeps up the falls towards twirling clouds dancing across the mountain range. Sounds normally whispered quiet by deep winter snow, are wildly chased around the canyon walls by endless waves of churning, ice cold and clean Athabasca glacier waters. It seems no matter whether I am standing beside a camera bug, or the frozen tracks of a bull elk, this special place always offers up a mystery, with it’s special mountain magic.
